Crysis Remastered Trilogy – Review
Our Score: 9/10
Crysis Remastered Trilogy is finally here. I mean, at this point everybody should know about Crysis and what it’s all about. This legendary franchise has been blowing minds since its original release in 2007. Known for its gorgeous and breathtaking visuals, this new remaster pushes things further.
Developer Crytek has brought these blockbuster titles to the current generation of consoles. When they were originally released, they sort of struggled with running on consoles of that generation. Finally, folks on consoles can experience these games and have a good experience. And if you’re looking to play this on the go, that’s possible too. Crytek has worked a lot of magic and managed to get the trilogy to run on the Nintendo Switch. It is absolutely insane to think about the fact that you can play Crysis on a handheld platform,
What is Crysis Remastered Trilogy
“Crysis Remastered Trilogy includes each of the single-player campaigns from the legendary first-person shooters Crysis, Crysis 2, and Crysis 3, optimized for today’s hardware. Relive the adventure in this great value all-in-one bundle.”
When you think Crysis, you think of the nanosuit. In the Crysis games, you play as a soldier who has their own nano suit. As you progress in the games, the severity of the alien threat gets worse. As you play through all the games, you will uncover more information about your character, the aliens, and your nanosuit.
The gunplay and sandbox nature of Crysis is also something that is unique to it. With the help of your nanosuit, you can choose your gameplay approach. Want to run and gun? Easy enough with the help of your Armor. Want to sprint around quickly and get the drop on enemies? Can do with the Speed option. Want to overpower enemies with raw strength? Use Strength mode. And finally, want to be a sneaky sneak and stealthily take out your foes? Use Cloak mode. The best part about the suit is the voice of the AI that lets you know when your cloak is engaged.
Look and Feel
What can I really say about the visuals of this game? There’s been a decade worth of compliments about the graphics of these games. There are so many showcases by people who are talented at taking photos in-game and those who create wonderful scenic videos of video games.
The games still retain their original style and feel with improvements made to textures, lighting, and other places that needed a slight improvement. There’s improved Texture, Global Illumination, and even ray tracing on both PC and Consoles.
The audio, sound design, and voice acting are still as memorable as ever. Hearing all those voices again and the sound effects of the nanosuit is just amazing. A lot of spent a lot of time trying to get this game to run on our PCs back in the day so there’s a lot of nostalgia there. Hearing those voices but seeing the game run so well is just incredible.
Final Verdict
If for whatever reason you haven’t played the Crysis games, Crysis Remastered Trilogy is the best way to experience them. There’s a lot of improvements here and being able to play them on last and current-generation consoles is just fantastic. Not to mention the tremendous Switch port.
