Halo Infinite – Review

Our Score: 9/10

The legendary series returns with Halo Infinite the most expansive Master Chief campaign yet and a ground-breaking free-to-play multiplayer experience.

When all hope is lost and humanity’s fate hangs in the balance, the Master Chief is ready to confront the most ruthless foe he’s ever faced. Step inside the armor of humanity’s greatest hero to experience an epic adventure and explore the massive scale of the Halo ring.

What is Halo Infinite?

Master Chief arrives on Zeta Halo, one of the oldest and most enigmatic Halo rings, after being miraculously discovered by a UNSC pilot. The Banished and its commander Escharum, who wishes to carry on Atriox’s legacy. They have complete control of the ring. Fortunately, the squad gains a third member: an artificial intelligence known as The Weapon. She is capable of hacking Zeta Halo’s installations. In summary, despite the odds being stacked against them, nothing will stop our Spartan from regaining Zeta Halo and providing hope to the UNSC forces trapped on the ring.

Plot and Lore

In terms of plot, it’s the first game in the series that has piqued my interest the most. With Halo Wars 2 and the conclusion of Halo 5 Guardians, 343 Industries had opened various doors, and I loved the approach chosen here.

Halo Infinite

Installation 07 (Zeta Halo) has piqued our interest for a long time, and for fans of the series, delving into it is a thrilling prospect. Furthermore, I was really delighted with the revelations, and there is still an opportunity for more tales to be told.

Then there’s Escharum, who does an excellent job as the major antagonist. He’s everywhere, and his rage often makes us jump when he emerges as a hologram. What more could one expect of an adversary? He’s big, he’s loud, he’s cruel, and he’s Machiavellian. Between him and Atriox, the devs have demonstrated that they can create memorable antagonists. Not to mention another adversary with a fantastic design who is quite violent when he first meets Master Chief, but I’ll leave that to you to discover.

Halo Infinite- Weapon

Halo Infinite avoids the blunders of Halo 5. This time, we’re solely focused on Master Chief’s story and his objective, which is once again larger than life. On the other hand, that didn’t stop 343 Industries’ creators from injecting a lot of color into the quest with memorable side characters.

Gameplay

It is extremely necessary to discuss the scope of Halo Infinite’s universe. Thanks to Zeta Halo’s open environment, it’s by far the biggest game in the franchise at this point. Indeed, it’s one of the most massive first-person shooter games we’ve ever seen. Even in games like Borderlands, I don’t believe we ever explored such vast environments.

The grapple is the most crucial new feature. This is a crucial aspect of the Halo Infinite story, and we’ve had it since the beginning. Above importantly, because you can move much higher horizontally, it gives you a new perspective on the levels. It encourages us to explore more and pay closer attention to every corner and crevice. Of sure, we experience a sense of freedom in the open-world levels, but we also experience it in the linear and limited levels. However, it is not just a matter of vertical mobility; it is also enjoyable to use it to move faster horizontally.

Furthermore, it adds a new level of complexity to the fights. The choices are enhanced tenfold, whether it’s to flee or move rapidly, approach an enemy, or even take away his weapon.

Look and Feel

Halo Infinite is the best-looking game in the franchise in terms of visuals. It may not have the most beautiful graphics on the market, but the game more than makes up for it in other ways. To begin with, the scenery and nature of Zeta Halo are fantastic, and I’d add to that the well-detailed animal fauna. Furthermore, I believe that we cannot hold him responsible for his technique. The gameplay is really efficient, fluid, and quick. When we battle, we have complete control over our persona. When we add in the fantastic, very catchy, and series-worthy music, we can see that the end result is persuasive.

Final Verdict

Halo Infinite is a strong return to form for the series thanks to the stand-out gameplay which elevates the whole experience. Not to mention, the story and sound design are fantastic.
